This course explores the fundamental concepts and principles of child and adolescent development focusing on the current reserach and theory on the biological, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions of development and the factors that affect the progress of development. Giving emphasis on the factors that have been identified as having positive or negative effects on the natural course of these developmental processes. Lessons and activities focus on current reserach, theories and principles applicable for each developmental level of the child and adolescent learners. To be integrated as core values are lifelong learning, trustworthiness, intellectual honesty, social responsibility, commitment to responsible stewardship, and gender sensitivity.
