Public Policy Management delves into different aspects of public policy. The first aspect covered is the basic concepts of public policy, including normative and positive theories, ideologies, policy determinants, and contextual influences. The purpose is an effort to understand why governments do what they do. This exploration provides a comprehensive knowledge of public policy besides providing the skills to understand the policy management processes. Second, is the process of developing public policy. This covers many areas of the public policy cycle starting from problem identification and definition; Policy formulation research, information gathering, analysis, policy instruments, options, policy design, and recommendations; Agenda Setting goal setting, and policy planning; Policy implementation and its challenges; and Evaluation and Feedback. Last is the public policy analysis. Here, we examine the policy tools that are important to critically analyze public policy viz., the stakeholder analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.
