This subject deals with the structure and basic properties of atoms and nuclei and some phenomena related to them. Interaction of radiation with matter, theories related to the structure and stability of nuclei are also dealt with at large. Natural radioactivity, measurement techniques of radiation, applications of radio isotopes in medicine and industry, health effects of radiation and aspects of radiation protection are also included in detail.
